Course Description

This self-paced Homestudy course examines the emerging science of psychedelic microdosing and its potential implications for clinical practice. Participants will review current research on low doses of psychedelics, explore findings from observational and clinical studies, and examine methodological challenges involved in evaluating microdosing outcomes. Course content includes an introduction to clinical science, review of contemporary microdosing research, discussion of citizen science and clinical trial methodologies, and consideration of how research findings may be translated from scientific investigation into clinical decision-making. Through case examples and thought exercises, participants will examine strengths, limitations, and future directions of the developing microdosing literature. Drawing from current scientific research and emerging clinical perspectives, this course is relevant to the professional practice of psychology and related healthcare disciplines. Participants will review research methodologies, evaluate evidence, and explore clinical considerations that may inform assessment, treatment planning, and therapeutic decision-making. The course emphasizes the translation of research findings from bench to bedside and explores the role of scientific inquiry in understanding the potential applications of psychedelic microdosing. Teachings are appropriate for healthcare professionals as well as the general public. Healthcare professionals will be able to incorporate the tools and practices offered in this program in ways beneficial to clients or patients.

After taking this course, you will be better able to

Describe current research findings and methodological approaches used in psychedelic microdosing studies Discuss clinical considerations and evidence-informed applications of psychedelic microdosing research

His research explores how compounds like LSD, psilocybin, and cannabis impact brain function, using tools like EEG and fMRI to study their effects. He currently leads a pilot study on psilocybin for cocaine use disorder and is a key contributor to UCLA’s Psychedelic Studies Initiative, working to better understand consciousness, mental health, and brain plasticity through innovative clinical research. He is also featured in James Fadiman’s newest book, Microdosing for Health, Healing and Enhanced Performance.
